With over 15 years experience in surveying and mapping
Landmark Geodetic has continuously over the years kept our quality in digital mapping to our highest value, with our clients request in mind. With the help of our different computer applications we are able to offer a wide range of Digital Mapping services to our clients.
Digital mapping (also called digital cartography) is the process by which a collection of data is compiled and formatted into a virtual image. The primary function of this technology is to produce maps that give accurate representations of a particular area, detailing major road arteries and other points of interest. The technology also allows the calculation of distances from once place to another. Though digital mapping can be found in a variety of computer applications, such as Google Earth, the main use of these maps is with the Global Positioning System, or GPS satellite network, used in standard automotive navigation systems.
Over the years we have worked with several major photogrammetric companies and many aerial-survey companies. We also carried out the ground-control for major projects. One of our projects (in co-operation with KLM-AEROCARTO) was the mapping of the Netherlands Antilles, i.e. the islands St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius, islands of the Dutch West Indies, by means of aerial photogrammetry and ground-control by GPS.
